Hesed חֶסֶד (Grace)

Pronunciation - kheh'-sed
Definition - goodness, kindness

"Hesed" in the Old Testament subtly represents grace, highlighting God's steadfast love and mercy. This concept of grace was fully unveiled through Jesus Christ, showing that divine favor is a gift of grace, not earned by law adherence. Jesus' arrival shifted the focus from law to a relationship based on grace.

Once upon a time, I walked a path many of us know well. I called myself a Christian from the very beginning, but if I'm honest, the true meaning of God's grace was like a book written in a language I couldn't read. My journey with God felt like a rollercoaster ride—full of highs when I needed a miracle and lows when life went back to normal. In those moments of need, my faith was a blazing fire, fueled by desperation and the unmistakable presence of God working in my life. But once the crisis passed and my feet found solid ground again, I mistakenly thought I owed God something for His help. This sense of debt, though rooted in gratitude, led me down a path away from Him, until the next wave of life's storms sent me seeking His aid once more.

This cycle of crisis and faith, gratitude and distance, continued for years. I lived under the false impression that my relationship with God was something I had to earn—that my actions could tip the scales in my favor or, worse, disappoint Him. But then, in a moment that changed everything, I stumbled upon a truth that shattered my misconceptions: God wasn't keeping score. He didn't remember my mistakes; He saw Christ in me. This revelation was like the first breath of air after being underwater for too long. It dawned on me that my life with God wasn't about what I could do for Him but about what He had already done for me.

The beauty of grace is that it's not a transaction; it's a gift. It's not about us at all. It's about a God who loves us so much that He chose to live through us, doing for us what we could never accomplish on our own. This understanding transformed my faith from a cycle of highs and lows to a steady journey of growth and learning. I realized that when we rest in God's grace, we naturally produce fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—far greater than anything we could strive to achieve ourselves.

Embraced by this new understanding, I dove into the Bible with fresh eyes. No longer did I feel unworthy of God's love; instead, I was eager to explore the depth of the relationship He offers us. This transformation was so profound that I felt a burning desire to share the truth of God's grace with everyone I could reach—to break the chains of performance-based faith for others as they had been broken for me.

And so, HesedGrace.com was born. It began as a personal project, a way to remind myself of the incredible truth of God's unearned favor. I created content that resonated with my journey—articles, videos, art, all serving as milestones on the path of understanding grace. But as I shared these creations, I realized they could serve a greater purpose. HesedGrace.com became a lighthouse for those navigating the stormy seas of faith and doubt, a place where the truth of God's grace shines bright.
